We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in North Conway, which is near Storyland Theme Park. (Polar Caves is on the way back to Boston from Storyland.) The Holiday Inn Express was an excellent choice which we highly recommend. Our room was spacious, clean and modern. Our suite had a full kitchen; enormous living room for playing; and gigantic whirlpool tub big enough for 4 kids. Hotel employees responded with speed and friendliness to all our requests. The free breakfast is better than the standard continental at most "budget" hotels; there is an indoor pool and hot tub. This was a much more luxurious hotel than we anticipated at a "budget" chain, for a very fair price.
